Thursday is named after Tor. The son of Odin and the Godess Fjordgyn was known to be a moody, stubborn and impulsive God. He had a chariot drawn by two goats; Tanngnjost (the teeth grinding) and Tanngrisne (the gap toothed). When he rode through the sky, there was a deafening roar and people called it “Tor-drønn” or Thunder. His hammer Mjølner was forged by two dwarves as a gift from Loke and required iron gloves to wield it. It hit all targets, always came back to its owner, and was said to have levelled mountains.
